Hershey Park!!!!
I think I’ve mentioned it before, but if not, I’ll say it again...we are definitely more of a National Park family than an amusement park family.
So coming here was kind of a big deal for my crew.
Aubyn went to her first real amusement park a few months back, but the other three were about to have their minds blown.
Here’s the deal though… I hate roller coasters and pretty much any ride that spins, but I am more than happy to hold your bag and hang with the kids that are too scared for the ride. Since Justin and Trisha love rides, it’s kind of a win-win!
We started on a kiddie roller coaster and we were all good. The next one though might have been a little much for my crew. Aubyn is our thrill seeker, but the others weren’t so sure…
Fortunately, this didn’t keep them from going on others.
I don’t know how many rides they rode that day, but they didn’t stop.
For those rides Edley needed a partner, sweet Trisha came to the rescue and rode them with her.
Thank you Trisha!!!
I mean, come on. Does it get any better than going on a ride with Trisha?!?!
After freezing nights in Maine, we were not prepared for the heat that we experienced at the park.
Thank goodness for the water park!
While the kids splashed and splashed, slipped and slided, us grownups kicked our shoes off and just sat for a bit.
Aaaaahhhhhh…
Actually, Trisha and I sat and chatted while Justin kept an eye on the kiddos…another win-win!
After the water park, we made our way to the gift shop to grab souvenirs before catching the bus back to the campground.
Y’all, I kid you not, this quick shopping trip was a nightmare.
The store was packed and we had limited time before we missed our bus. AND I had promised my kids they could each get something. They had an agreed to amount set at the beginning of the trip and this was their last chance to use it.
You see my predicament?
If you have kids who were promised something, you know it’s impossible to leave without getting it.
Oh the stress.
We made a mad scramble and fortunately everyone seemed happy with their stash…except me. I couldn’t find what I was looking for and was bummed to not get anything from the day.
Time was running out and we had to go!
We raced to the bus and were fortunate to get the last 8 seats.
Of course, right when we got there, they informed us that they were sending another bus in 15 minutes due to the high demand…sigh.
I didn’t care. Sitting down on the bus was the best feeling all day. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten over 20,000 steps in a day before!
I was tired.
We were all tired.
But when we got back to the campground, I had an emotional hangover or maybe overstimulation from the day or maybe needing a fix of some sort. Whatever it was, I decided to go to the camp store and just see what goodies they had there.
I figured they might have some camp games or s’mores kits or something like that, and I really just wanted something to mark this stop on the trip.
And there they were…incredibly soft, ridiculously cute pants covered with Hershey candies and tents and campfires and “Hershey Park”. I definitely needed them.
They are now officially called my camping pants and don’t be surprised if you see them in all my camping pictures because I love them, no matter how silly they look.
So here’s to my camping pants and an incredibly long day that was exceeded all expectations.
What a way to end our trip!
Tomorrow, we head home.
Maybe we’ll do it in one day, or maybe two.
Either way, we have to be home by Saturday because the girls leave for camp on Monday and there’s tons to do to get them ready!
